At last, our second book, Cody Seltzer and the Creeping Shadows by Lassiter Williams has arrived! It’s a fun, middle-grade story focusing on an artsy eleven-year- old seeing “creeping shadows” cancel out his friendly, supportive off-beat urban neighborhood. Businesses are damaged, property destroyed, and events disrupted. As more people decide to leave, young Cody has to climb into his fears and grope for new understandings while trying to save his community and find a new way to “be normal”. The shadows are not cooperating.

Ms. Williams shows a deep empathy for the doubt and uncertainty in the preteen years. But it is because of Cody’s many fears that he is able to see the shadows shrouding his community. His anxiety becomes his super power as he trusts his intuition and reaches for the healthier side of each encounter.
